If you love hiking/snowshoeing and/or cross country skiing in the mountain ranges of Canada you'll know and love the friendly Whiskey Jack bird who is always so adorably curious about humans whenever they meet. Also known as the Canada Jay, the gray jay, the camp robber, moose bird and so on, it is unofficially Canada's national bird chosen by Canadian Geographic in 2016. The name Whiskey Jack comes from Cree and other indigenous mythologies and is referred to the bird as "Wisakedjak", a wise and benevolent trickster. While hiking in the Okanagan at Apex Mountain I came across a little flock of curious whiskey jacks that didn't mind being photographed for my reference for this painting. You can get this print in 3 sizes!
